Quick reference
Verify 2+2 (4-seater) vs 2-seater mounting bracket widths - some late-production 2+2 models used reinforced brackets
JDM Fairlady Z production continued to 2000 but suspension arms remain mechanically compatible; verify ABS sensor bracket provisions
Distinguish from 'traction link' (fore-aft) and 'toe control link' which are separate components in the Z32 rear suspension
Context
The rear right lower control arm (Nissan 55120-30P00, superseded to 55120-30P01) is a critical aluminum lateral link in the Z32's multi-link rear suspension. Found on all 1990-1996 300ZX models regardless of twin-turbo or naturally aspirated configuration, this component manages rear wheel lateral location and camber geometry. When junkyard hunting, verify the casting marks "30P00" on the aluminum forging to confirm compatibility across the Z32 generation, though 2+2 chassis variants should be verified separately. Common failures include ovalized inner bushing bores, torn rubber bushings, and cracked ball joint housings from pothole impacts. During inspection, check for corrosion at the steel bushing sleeves and stress cracks near the ball joint tower, particularly in snowy climates. Installation requires supporting the rear knuckle assembly and torquing the 19mm chassis bolts to specification with the suspension at ride height to prevent bushing preload. Always replace in left-right pairs (55121-30P00 for driver's side) and schedule a four-wheel alignment immediately after, as arm length directly affects rear camber settings.
