The F10 BMW 5-Series utilizes pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners mounted within the buckle assembly. For front right replacement, OEM part 72117231906 (superseding 72119133276) interchangeably fits 2010-2016 F10 sedans and F11 Touring models regardless of N52, N55, or diesel engines. Inspection is critical: verify the tensioner hasn't fired by checking that the steel cable remains retracted and the plastic housing shows no burn marks or cracks. Installation demands disconnecting the battery and waiting 15 minutes before unplugging the yellow SRS connector. Torque the B-pillar mounting bolt to 40 Nm; undertightened units may misfire. When harvesting from junkyards, target 2011-2016 528i and 535i models, but avoid units with cut wires or deployed charges. Post-installation requires BMW ISTA or equivalent to clear airbag fault codes—generic scanners cannot reset the restraint system.
