These units interchange across all 1990-1996 model years equipped with factory HID, but verify connector pinouts as early 1990-1991 harnesses may differ from 1992+ facelift wiring. When sourcing from salvage yards, inspect the aluminum casing for corrosion—salt intrusion commonly damages the internal transformer—and verify the supplier casting number on the Matsushita-manufactured housing. Installation requires disconnecting the 12V input and high-voltage output leads; never touch the igniter contacts immediately after operation as capacitors retain lethal voltage.
