Quick reference
Verify pre-LCI vs LCI status: 2014+ model year headlights have a distinct 'eyebrow' LED design that is not interchangeable with 2011-2013 units
Distinguish between Standard Xenon, Adaptive Xenon (AHL option S524), and Halogen—wiring harnesses and control modules differ significantly
F07 5 Series GT utilizes completely different headlight assemblies despite similar front styling
Context
When scavenging for a right headlight for your 2011 BMW 528i, target 2011-2013 F10 5 Series donors exclusively—2014+ LCI facelift units feature angular LED accents that won't fit. Look for OEM numbers 63117207732 (xenon) or 63117271908 (halogen) stamped on the housing; these interchange across 528i, 535i, and 550i variants regardless of engine code. Always inspect the three lower mounting tabs—common brittle failure points on BMW F10 chassis—and verify the adjuster mechanism isn't stripped. If pulling a xenon assembly, grab the control module attached to the bottom; halogen units lack this hardware and feature different connector pinouts. Check lens clarity for UV-induced crazing prevalent on early F10 models.
