Daytime Running Light Module - 2011 528i

The BMW F10 5-Series Daytime Running Light Module (DRL) controls the LED accent strips in headlights equipped with the optional LED package. Located externally on the headlight housing, modules 63117316217 (driver) and 63117316218 (passenger) are specific to 2011-2013 pre-LCI models. When junkyard hunting, target 2011-2013 F10 528i, 535i, or 550i sedans with LED headlights—avoid 2014+ LCI models with redesigned housings. Inspect for moisture damage: corroded pins at the multi-plug connector indicate water ingress that destroys the module. Remove the front wheel and fender liner for access rather than removing the entire bumper. Note that left and right modules are not interchangeable; casting marks like Bosch 1307329xxx indicate OEM manufacturer. After installation, the module typically self-calibrates, though some variants require ISTA coding to clear 'daytime running light failure' warnings. Common failure mode is intermittent flickering of DRLs before complete shutdown.
