When harvesting a Nissan 300ZX Z32 airbag in the junkyard, target 1990-1994 models for the early-style 98510-40P00 module or 1995-1996 for the revised 98510-40P05 unit. The VG30DETT twin-turbo and naturally aspirated models share identical driver-side SRS components within these year splits. Always disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes before removal to prevent accidental deployment from residual current. Inspect the integrated clockspring for cracked plastic or broken ribbon cables, as these commonly trigger persistent SRS lights. Check the cover for sun damage or sticky residue indicating previous adhesive repairs. When installing, torque the Torx mounting bolts to 8-10 Nm, align the clockspring centering mark to prevent spiraling, and verify horn continuity before reconnecting power. Never test resistance across the inflator terminals.
