Quick reference
Heated and non-heated variants use different wiring harnesses and backing plates - verify connector presence before purchase
1990 model year spans early and late production changes; verify mounting bracket tab spacing against your actuator mechanism
LHD (USDM) and RHD (JDM) left side mirrors are different components - do not interchange
Context
The 1990 Nissan 300ZX (Z32) left side mirror glass commonly fails due to delamination of the reflective coating or cracked heating elements. When sourcing replacements, look for part numbers 96366-40P01 (heated) or 96366-30P01 (early production) stamped on the backing plate. This component interchanges across all 1989-1996 USDM Z32 models regardless of Twin Turbo or Naturally Aspirated engine configuration, provided the heating element option matches your harness connector. In the junkyard, tilt the mirror fully downward to access the release tabs, then inspect the plastic retention clips on the backing plate—these brittle tabs break easily during removal. Test the heating element with a multimeter (resistance should read 15-25 ohms) before extraction. Installation requires pressing the glass firmly into the actuator until all four clips engage; apply even pressure to avoid cracking the replacement. JDM Fairlady Z mirrors may look similar but often feature different curvature and mounting geometry.
