Quick reference
Critical distinction between Twin Turbo (TT) round tips and NA oval tips - verify engine type before purchase
Left side specific; right side (20030-40P10) uses mirror-image bracket geometry
Part numbers derived from training knowledge - verify against Nissan FAST or dealer microfiche for specific VIN
Context
The left exhaust finisher for the 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo mounts to the driver's side rear muffler section, distinct from the oval-tipped NA counterpart (20030-30P01). Genuine Nissan part 20030-40P00 features the larger 90mm round opening specific to VG30DETT models and differs from the right-side unit in mounting bracket geometry. When sourcing from salvage yards, verify the three mounting studs aren't sheared off—the mild steel flange corrodes aggressively where it meets the stainless steel tip, often freezing the 10mm nuts. Inspect the hidden water drain hole at the 6-o'clock position; clogging accelerates inner wall rot and blow-through failures. Early 1990 production used bracket designs that differ slightly from 1991-1996 revisions, though interchange is possible with minor muffler manipulation. Installation requires new donut gaskets (20692-65E00) and copious anti-seize on all hardware to prevent future extraction nightmares in the cramped rear subframe area.
