3L I6 Naturally Aspirated N52B30 (240hp).
Quick reference
TPS is non-serviceable separately on N52 platform; complete throttle body replacement required
Verify 8-pin electrical connector (black housing) versus early 6-pin (white/gray) - physically incompatible
2011 is unique model year for F10 chassis with N52 engine; 2012+ F10 528i uses N20 turbo with different Bosch throttle body
Context
For the 2011 BMW 528i with N52B30 engine, the throttle position sensor is integrated into the electronic throttle body housing, requiring replacement of the complete assembly (BMW 13547556119 or supercession 13548675278) rather than the sensor alone. When junkyard hunting, target 2007-2013 BMW 328i (E9X chassis) donors, which share the identical VDO unit with 8-pin black connector—critically, avoid 2004-2006 E60 5-Series units featuring the incompatible 6-pin connector. Common failure modes include voltage sweep dead spots causing EML warnings and limp-home mode. Before installation, verify smooth 0.5-4.5V sweep across the integrated potentiometer and perform throttle adaptation via BMW ISTA or equivalent diagnostic tool to recalibrate the DME learning values.
