Front Left Door Lock Actuator - 1990 300ZX Z32

When hunting Nissan Z32 parts in the junkyard, the front left door lock actuator (OEM 80553-30P00, superseded to 80553-30P01) fits all 1990-1996 300ZX models regardless of twin-turbo or naturally aspirated trim. Before pulling, test the mechanism—Z32 doors are notorious for water intrusion that corrodes the internal motor. Inspect the plastic gear housing for cracks, as the nylon gears strip easily after 30 years. When installing, use fresh door panel clips (the originals shatter instantly) and reseal the vapor barrier with butyl tape to prevent future corrosion. The actuator swaps between coupe and 2+2 models, though JDM Fairlady Z units may have different key cylinders. If the lock clicks but doesn't engage, the actuator plastic gears have failed—a common failure mode requiring replacement rather than repair.
