Battery Tray/Holder - 2011 528i

For the 2011 BMW 528i (F10 platform), the battery resides in the trunk's right-side compartment beneath the storage tray, secured by mounting plate 61-21-7-226-191 and hold-down clamp 61-21-9-122-717. This assembly interchangeably fits all 2010-2017 F10 sedans, F11 Touring wagons, and F07 GT models regardless of N52, N20, or N55 engine fitment. When junkyard hunting, inspect the black plastic tray for acid erosion around the vent tube port—a common failure point where battery vapors degrade the material and cause ventilation codes. The hold-down bracket includes the critical ventilation hose connection; missing this nipple triggers persistent check-engine lights. Installation requires disconnecting the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor), removing the cargo trim, and transferring the ventilation hose to the new unit. Torque the 10mm hold-down bolts to 18 Nm to prevent tray cracking. Cross-reference casting mark 7226191 molded into the tray base when BMW labels are weathered off, and verify the ventilation nipple isn't cracked.
