When inspecting junkyard donors, check the rotor hat for excessive rust scaling that compromises the internal parking brake drum surface—common failure point causing squeal and poor hold. Installation requires removing the Torx T50 set screw securing the rotor to the hub; clean the hub face thoroughly to prevent runout-induced pulsation. The parking brake shoes ride inside the rotor hat; retract the shoes completely before sliding the rotor off to avoid damage to the adjuster mechanism.
