Cannot verify compatibility with Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) option—physical inspection of donor vehicle interior required

Context
The BMW F10 generation utilizes a dual-cable manual parking brake system prone to water ingress at the floor pan grommet. When sourcing in junkyards, target 2011-2016 5-Series donors (F10 sedan or F11 Touring) and verify the interior has a manual lever, not the EPB button. OEM numbers 34 40 6 795 405 (left) and 34 40 6 795 406 (right) interchange across 528i, 535i, and 550i models regardless of engine code. Inspect cables by removing the underbody heat shields—look for fraying at the equalizer yoke and housing corrosion near the rear caliper brackets. During installation, route the cable through the floor pan before connecting the interior lever; lubricate the sheath with graphite-based cable lube and adjust tension to 9-11 clicks at the lever. The N52-equipped 528i shares identical parking brake hardware with turbocharged variants, making 535i donors equally viable for this maintenance-intensive wear item.
