This stamped steel deflector protects the internal drum parking brake mechanism from road debris and thermal damage. Service replacement ACDelco 18060683 offers direct interchange across all base model C5s from 1997-2004, but avoid Z06 donor vehicles (2001-2004) as their upgraded brake package requires different shield geometry. Installation requires complete hub assembly removal; expect seized fasteners and potential breakage of the three mounting tabs during extraction. Verify the stamped number 64165 on junkyard units, as left-side shields (88964164) appear similar but mount incorrectly.
