3L I6 Naturally Aspirated N52B30 (240hp).
Quick reference
Verify brake package code (S1THA standard vs S1THC M-Sport) before installation - visual similarity between standard and performance shields causes misidentification
2013 LCI facelift introduced running changes to ABS sensor bracket integration; early cars have separate bracket, later units may have integrated mount requiring wiring harness verification
F07 GT models share part numbers but have different part orientation due to knuckle geometry - verify stamped 'R' or 'L' on shield before removal
Context
When scavenging the F10 generation at the junkyard, target 2011-2016 BMW 528i, 535i, or base 550i sedans for the front right dust shield. The critical numbers are 34 11 6 792 740 (early) and 34 11 6 850 338 (LCI), both interchangeable if your car runs standard 348mm rotors. Inspection is vital: check for cracks at the three mounting ear welds and severe rust scaling that reduces clearance to the rotor hub. These shields trap corrosive road salt between the plate and knuckle, causing the lower mounting ear to disintegrate. Installation requires removing the axle nut (33 32 6 760 646) and sliding the shield over the CV shaft before the hub can seat, meaning you'll disturb the wheel bearing—budget for a replacement bearing (33 41 6 850 000 series) if mileage is high. At the yard, bring calipers: measure the inside diameter of the shield bell; it must match your rotor hat diameter exactly, as the 374mm M-Sport shields look identical but are 12mm larger and will foul standard rotors.
