When hunting junkyards for Nissan Z32 brake hardware, the front left backing plate crosses over the entire 1989-1996 production run regardless of twin-turbo or naturally aspirated configuration. Look for Nissan part number 40206-40P01 stamped on the shield face or casting marks near the steering knuckle mount. These plates commonly rot at the lower mounting ear or crack around the ball joint cutout after decades of road salt exposure. When pulling from donor cars, remove the entire steering knuckle assembly rather than fighting corroded 14mm bolts in situ—this preserves the fragile sheetmetal ears. During installation, verify the ABS reluctor ring clearance if your 1991 TT has the optional anti-lock brakes; early non-ABS cars use the same 40206-30P01 stamping without sensor cutouts. Always compare the brake hose bracket orientation, as 1989-1990 models used slightly different clip positions that can be massaged to fit later cars. Clean mounting surfaces thoroughly and apply anti-seize to prevent future galvanic corrosion between the aluminum knuckle and steel plate.
