Front Left Brake Backing Plate/Dust Shield - 1987 Mustang

The Ford front brake dust shield for the 1987 Fox Body Mustang (service part E7ZZ-2K004-A on the left/driver side) is a stamped steel barrier that mounts to the steering spindle, protecting the 11-inch rotor from debris and providing the brake hose bracket mounting point. When junkyard hunting, target 1982-1993 Ford Mustang 5.0L models or 1979-1986 Mercury Capri 5.0L variants, strictly avoiding 4-lug equipped 4-cylinder and V6 models which utilize incompatible spindle geometries. Inspect donor shields for cracks at the three mounting ears and severe rust around the ball joint relief cutout. During installation, thoroughly clean the spindle mating surface to prevent runout-induced noise and apply anti-seize to the retaining bolts. Note that the right-hand equivalent E7ZZ-2K005-A shares identical interchange ranges but features mirror-image mounting tab geometry.
